Hi, I’m Dr. Julianne Payton, PT, DPT, CEAS

I’ve been a physical therapist since 2015, graduating with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University. My entire career has been in orthopedics, working with everything from acute injuries to chronic pain and overuse conditions. Somewhere along the way, desk workers became a big part of my daily practice, and I kept seeing the same patterns over and over.

A few years into my career I pursued formal training in ergonomics, earning my Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist (CEAS) credential. I was excited to have a more structured framework to help my patients. But I quickly ran into a problem. Traditional ergonomics felt rigid in a way that didn’t sit right with me clinically. The research I trusted on pain science and movement didn’t support the idea of a “perfect posture” or a one-size-fits-all setup, yet that’s exactly what most ergonomic assessments were handing people.

So I started doing what PTs do, problem solving. I began combining what I knew about pain neuroscience, movement, and individual body differences with ergonomic principles, treating the workstation setup as a flexible home base rather than a rigid prescription. Then layering in regular movement to address what no amount of chair adjustment can fix on its own. The results with my patients were significantly better than either approach alone.

This isn’t just clinical for me. I’ve dealt with headaches and mid back pain for a good chunk of my life. Applying these same principles to myself has made a real difference, and that experience shapes how I think about this work every day.

I built Desk Work Reset because I kept seeing a gap. There are a lot of self-motivated people out there who work a sedentary job and want real support, not a rigid disconnected assessment with no follow up and no context for why any of it matters. Fixing the setup without addressing movement misses half the picture. Addressing movement without looking at the setup misses the other half. This is both, in one place, designed around you.

When I’m not doing this I’m out on the trails around Colorado with my two dogs, which is its own daily reminder of why keeping your body moving is worth prioritizing.

If you work at a desk and you’re ready to actually feel better, you’re in the right place.
